Concept of accumulation of containers at the outlet of the AAF Rotary Unscrambler, automatic changeover.

Efficiency in a line production and the importance of accumulation in containers unscramblers

Reading time: 4 minutes

A production line efficiency depends on many factors: from the correct container unscrambling and their glide or transport to the filler until the filling and final packaging.

Each of the processes that make up a production line has its particularities. Today we would like to talk about the “accumulation” or “buffer” of the unscrambler until the filler and its importance in packaging production line efficiency.

Each of our empty container unscramblers models, either the manual change or the AAF models of automatic format change, are equipped with an exit conveyor for the containers that normally feed a filler.

It is necessary to highlight from the beginning that an unscrambler is a random machine different from the others machines that make up a packaging line, like the fillers or cappers which are continual machines where all incoming containers come out in the same position and speed.

Schematic of the system for cleaning empty containers by ionized air technology of empty container rinsers manufactured by Traktech.

An outline of the system for cleaning bottles with ionized air and F8 suction

Reading time: 5 minutes

Cleaning the inside of containers has evolved. The traditional “container washers” are a thing of the past, now machines that clean with ionized air are used. This technology complies with the strictest quality standards and controls.

A two-phase system: Blowing and suction, with optimum results for all types of industries, ideal for food or pharmaceutical sectors, as they are the most demanding with regards to regulations.

Used to clean large or small containers, removing particles from inside the container (small pieces of glass or plastic), insects, or other foreign bodies, before filling.

Due to the ionization system, they can also clean electrostatically charged particles.

Spices, condiments and herbs in a solid food company for packaging and distribution in the restaurant sector

Case of success: Beginning of filling production line for multiformat containers

Reading time: 5 minutes

Case of success: Beginning of bottles filling production line for a complete filling, capping and labelling facility for glass, can and plastic containers.

Multinational company of the food solid sector: ingredients and flavourings, specialists in herbs, aromatic spices and condiments for the catering sector, has built a new factory in the United Kingdom in which they have installed two bottle packaging lines for filling, labelling and packing their products.

The client needed to handle containers at the beginning of the line made of different materials in a single line.

At the first stage implies handling a total amount of six containers: three glass containers, two plastic containers and one can, very different both in size and geometry and at a constant production rate of 170 containers per minute.

PET containers filled with juices and smoothies from a fruit and vegetable processing plant.

Project: PET bottles filling line. Phase 1

Reading time: 4 minutes

Case of success: PET bottles filling line for diverse formats and shapes.

A company in the fruits and vegetables processing sector without chemical treatment required to develop a PET bottles filling line.

This production line implied handling 8 different types of PET container formats regarding measurements and shapes, with productions from 2.800 to 8.000 bottles per hour (BPH).

The company was searching for a solution for handling empty containers at the beginning of the line, which allowed the supply of bottles to the filling machine with the minimum time of line standstill for changing the format.

The main challenge lied in the containers format and shape. The solution had to consider handling cylindrical, squared, hexagonal and triangular PET bottles.

Furthermore, the client was searching for a solution for handling empty containers which offered higher resistance, durability, and minimum maintenance.

RINSER-PH: Containers cleaning for the Pharmaceutical Industry

Reading time: 2 minutes

Containers cleaning in the Pharmaceutical Industry is a very demanding market with respect to regulations.

It implies ensuring maximum security of the whole drugs production chain that impacts in the security of the final consumers: the patient.

This guarantee has been the principal requirement that our R&D department has considered for the design of a special machine for cleaning the interior of the containers in drugs production lines.

It is a containers cleaning system that meets the highest international quality standards in the Pharma Industry: The Rotary Rinser R-PH.

Like all our machines for handling empty bottles, we have included other characteristics with the goal of adding more benefits towards the maximum productivity in the production lines.

How does an unscrambler for PET bottles work?

Reading time: 3 minutes

Before talking about the functioning of a PET bottles unscrambler, we should mention that rotary unscramblers, more popular among European countries than linear unscramblers which are more accepted in Anglo-Saxon markets, can be classified among the ones that use random positioning systems for bottles or the ones that use prepositioning systems for bottles.

In Traktech, we are specialists in rotary unscramblers for bottles with random allocation systems which, at the same time, can work with or without pucks.

When choosing an unscrambler for a production line, it is important to know the four phases/steps that intervene in the positioning of a PET bottle, to choose the best positioning option.

Our ROTRAK unscramblers can manipulate a wide range of plastic containers with cylindric, oval and rectangular shapes. Based on geometry, we design machines from medium to high production processes, up to 20.000BPH, always considering the filler line capacity.

A machine for cleaning bottles that does not use water. Is it possible?

Reading time: 3 minutes

Machines for cleaning empty bottles have traditionally used water to clean the inside of the bottles at the beginning of a production line.

From this process comes the expression “bottle washer”, where “washer” was used to refer to cleaning the containers with water, but this terminology is now obsolete.

Why? Because the needs of bottle manufacturers and bottling companies have changed. They are under ever more pressure to supply high-quality products that are also subject to strict regulatory and environmental control.

As a result, the market has evolved, and today there are different systems and methods that offer better performance, and terms have arisen that are more closely adapted to these processes such as rinse or clean.

dry lubrication for the food industry

Dry lubrication for conveyors in the food industry

Reading time: 3 minutes

There are currently 4 different types of systems on the market for lubricating conveyors:

  1. Wet lubrication based on chemicals and water.
  2. Semi-dry lubrication like wet, but more concentrated.
  3. Dry lubrication, oil-based lubricants, silicones, or Teflon in a maximum concentration of 1%.
  4. CHP dry micro-lubrication. The lubricant has a fully stable Teflon concentration of up to 6% (components are not separated) and the overall system (lubricant, control, and injection system) guarantees very low lubricant consumption.

Unscrambling system for containers for the Pharma industry

Reading time: 2 minutes

The unscrambling system for containers is one of the most important elements in a company’s production line.

It is an unscrambler that streamlines the filling of bulk bottles and makes them go through the filling process.

The first big question to ask the manufacturing companies when suggesting a type of empty container unscramble is whether or not they have to work with pucks.

If so, you have to know if the Puck is a “loose puck” type or on the contrary, it is a “label puck”.
